This multi-disc rotary friction type Energy Absorber, BAK-12, is the current USAF standard. The system offers a maximum 1200ft run out and a modern Deutz diesel/multi-fuel tape rewind engine is standard.
The BAK-12 can be installed above grade, below grade in concrete pits, or as the energy absorber in the USAF standard mobile system, MAAS.
When installed above grade optional environmental covers are available for protection against rain, sand, wind, snow, UV radiation, etc.
